Avengers Spotlight #25 continues the Hawkeye-led format that Marvel adopted when Solo Avengers was retitled with issue #21, pairing a lead Clint Barton adventure with a rotating Avengers backup. Howard Mackie scripts the lead, with pencils by Al Milgrom and inks by Tom Morgan, as Hawkeye contends with Crossfire's standing bounty and the assembled Death-Throws, with Mockingbird and Trick Shot in support; the backup turns to Rick Jones. The cover is a Joe Jusko piece inked by Butch Guice, and it is the strongest commercial element of the issue, catching Jusko at the point where his painted and finished-figure work was becoming widely recognized.

Market profile is that of a solid mid-run Copper Age book rather than a key. There is no first appearance, origin, or death of consequence here, and the issue has no film or streaming catalyst attached to it, so it moves through dealer stock and online listings at bin-to-modest levels in raw grades. Certified activity is minimal: the census is thin and public sales records are effectively absent, which means slabbed pricing rests on submission cost and the relative scarcity of registered high-grade copies rather than on demonstrated collector competition. The direct edition, as offered here, is the more commonly encountered of the two 1989 printings.

Buyers are principally Hawkeye completists, readers assembling the full Solo Avengers/Avengers Spotlight run, and Jusko cover collectors. Across grades the book behaves the way most late-1980s Marvel titles do: low and mid grades are functionally reading copies with little spread between them, while genuine high-grade raw copies are worth seeking because 1989 newsprint and direct-market distribution still produced spine and corner issues at scale. A certified 9.8 is the only version of this issue with real upside, and that upside depends on the census staying small; anyone submitting should expect the grading fee to represent most of the value created.
