// Condition analysis
Cover shows strong gloss and sharp corners with no visible creases, tears, or color breaks; the embossed metallic border and David Mack painted cover retain vivid color with no fading. Slight edge softness is visible at the bottom left corner and a faint handling wave near the spine, keeping this from a higher grade. The book is protected in a plastic sleeve, and only the front cover was visible for assessment; back cover and interior pages were not inspected.

// Archive commentary
Daredevil #23, cover-dated August 2001, falls inside the six-part "Playing to the Camera" storyline written by Bob Gale, the screenwriter brought into Marvel Knights after Kevin Smith and David Mack had re-established the title as a prestige street-level book. The arc pits Matt Murdock against the Jester in a media-manipulation plot that plays off the public exposure of Murdock's double life, with Foggy Nelson and Ben Urich carrying much of the courtroom and newsroom material. Interior pencils come from the Gale-run team of Phil Winslade and David Ross, while David Mack supplied the painted cover treatment that gave the run its visual continuity. No first appearances, origins, or deaths occur here; the issue's interest is as a component of a complete, well-regarded Marvel Knights run rather than as a standalone event.
