Wonder Man #3 continues the Hollywood-satire direction Gerard Jones and Jeff Johnson set for Simon Williams' first solo ongoing title, launched in the late summer of 1991 after decades of Wonder Man serving as an Avengers and West Coast Avengers supporting player. In "Eye of the Beholder," Simon's agent saddles him with an unwanted sidekick, Spider Beach, while a new gamma-powered antagonist, Gamma-Burn, provides the issue's conflict. Johnson pencils over Terry Austin's inks, and Austin's finishing gives the run a cleaner, more polished look than much of Marvel's 1991 output. The issue is a straightforward story chapter rather than a first appearance of consequence, and standard references do not treat it as a key.

Market behavior follows the pattern for late-Copper Marvel launches printed in quantity: raw copies circulate freely, often absorbed into full-run lots rather than sold individually, and grade spread compresses almost to nothing below the near-mint tier. The one demand driver worth naming is character attention. Announcement of a Disney+ Wonder Man series moved certified copies of the first issue sharply for a matter of days in mid-2023 before prices settled, and that attention reaches later issues only faintly. Certified population for #3 is small, which means a single listing can set the visible price and the next sale can undercut it materially.

Buyers here are run collectors completing the sixteen-issue series, Avengers West Coast readers, and speculators positioning ahead of screen appearances. In low and mid grades the book is inventory rather than investment, priced for shipping efficiency and best moved as part of a run. Certified 9.8 copies are the only bracket where a premium exists, and it rests largely on the cost of grading plus scarcity of registered copies rather than on collector consensus; anyone submitting for certification should expect the census to grow easily and price accordingly.
