Cover-dated April 1987, this is the third chapter of Steve Englehart's eight-part "Lost in Space-Time" serial, the storyline that defined the first West Coast Avengers ongoing series. A malfunctioning time platform strands the team across two eras: Hawkeye, Tigra, Wonder Man and Iron Man make common cause with allies in 1776 while Mockingbird, brainwashed and held by the Phantom Rider, remains in 1876. Hank Pym's scenes in the present continue the arc that brings him back into the Avengers orbit after his disgrace, and the Lincoln Slade material begun here culminates in one of the most discussed and disturbing plot threads Marvel published in the decade, with consequences for Mockingbird and Hawkeye that ran for years. Art is by Al Milgrom over inks from Joe Sinnott, who also supply the cover, with Mark Gruenwald editing.

Market-wise this is a mid-run Copper Age book from a title printed in quantity and held in bulk. Raw copies change hands mainly as part of run lots and dollar-box inventory, and the practical spread between a well-worn complete copy and a solid mid-grade one is narrow. Certification is uncommon: the census shows only a couple of high-grade copies with no recorded certified sales, which means top-grade demand is driven less by the issue itself than by collectors assembling a graded run or chasing the storyline's later, better-known consequences. The only meaningful pricing variance within the print run comes from format, with the Mark Jewelers insert variant sitting well above both the direct and newsstand editions.

That base supports steady, unspectacular movement at low prices in raw grades, where the book sells quickly and cheaply, and thin but occasionally competitive bidding at the top of the census, where scarcity of submitted copies rather than intrinsic key status sets the ceiling. Dealers should treat this as run inventory with a modest upgrade play: the cost of certification exceeds the raw value by a wide margin, so slabbing makes sense only for copies that present at the very top of the grade scale.
