The Devil's Footprints #4 closes out a four-issue Dark Horse miniseries written by David Hine, drawing on the real 1855 Devonshire legend of mysterious hoofprint-like tracks left in the snow across dozens of miles of English countryside. Hine, known for horror and crime work such as Strange Embrace and his later runs on Spawn and X-Men titles, uses the folklore as a jumping-off point for a period mystery steeped in dread and small-town paranoia rather than costumed adventure. The series arrived with painted or heavily rendered cover art in the moody style Dark Horse favored for its horror line in the late 2000s, and issue #4 delivers the story's resolution.
