// Condition analysis
Cover shows strong gloss and bright color with sharp corners; slight whitening/wear visible at the top left and top right corner tips. A faint vertical crease/bend is visible along the right edge near the spine, and minor edge wear is present along the bottom edge. No major creases, tears, or color breaks are visible on the front cover; the book is in a protective sleeve which limits full assessment. Interior pages and back cover were not assessed.

// Archive commentary
Super-Villain Team-Up #16 arrived in May 1979 as part of the tail end of Marvel's short-lived series pairing Doctor Doom and Namor before pivoting toward a rotating cast of villains. This issue features Red Skull and his bio-engineered lieutenant Arnim Zola against Captain America, with supporting turns from Hate-Monger and other bit players. Carmine Infantino handled pencils during this stretch of the title, a notable pairing of a Silver Age industry veteran with Bronze Age Marvel villain fare, while Al Milgrom and Frank Giacoia contributed the cover.
Market data reflects a book with a modest but real collector base rather than broad demand. Census figures show a healthy 68 graded copies, yet sales volume even at the top grade remains thin, and price points across the grade spectrum stay low relative to keys of the era. The FMV curve shows a sharp jump only at 9.8, typical of common Bronze Age Marvel product where nearly all value concentrates in top-census slabs while raw and mid-grade copies see negligible collector interest beyond completism.
This issue trades primarily among Captain America and Red Skull completists, Bronze Age Marvel villain-team runs collectors, and CGC census chasers seeking a cheap 9.8 add. Raw copies in low and mid grade move for pocket change and are readily available in back-issue bins and online lots. High-grade slabs command a real but limited premium, driven less by narrative significance than by the difficulty of finding pristine Bronze Age newsstand copies in today's market.
