Solo Avengers launched in late 1987 as Marvel's split-format showcase for Hawkeye, pairing a continuing lead serial with a rotating backup spotlighting a different Avenger. The eighth issue, cover-dated July 1988 under Mark Gruenwald's editorship, carries a Kevin Nowlan cover and opens with a Tom DeFalco-scripted Hawkeye story that introduces Blind Justice, a vigilante whose brutal methods put him at odds with the archer. The backup, written by Mike W. Barr with art by Larry Alexander, gives Hank Pym a solo turn in his Doctor Pym identity opposite Doctor Nemesis, part of the run's effort to develop second-tier Avengers outside the parent title. The material has since been reprinted in Avengers: Solo Avengers Classic and the Hawkeye Epic Collection, which keeps it accessible to readers and limits demand for original copies.

Market data for this issue is effectively absent. Price-tracking services list the book without meaningful sales history, and certified copies are scarce enough that no reliable auction record exists, which is typical for a mid-run Copper Age title printed in healthy quantities and rarely submitted for grading. Blind Justice never became a franchise character, so the first-appearance angle carries no premium. What demand exists comes from Hawkeye completists filling the twenty-issue Solo Avengers run and from collectors following Nowlan cover work, a small but steady constituency that has supported modest interest in his late-1980s Marvel assignments.

This is a run-filler rather than an investment book. Low-grade copies belong in bulk boxes and dollar bins; clean mid-grade examples trade as inexpensive reading and set-building material, and the practical ceiling is a high-grade raw copy sold to someone assembling the complete Hawkeye solo series. Certification rarely makes economic sense here unless the copy is a candidate for a top grade or carries a creator signature, in which case the Nowlan association does most of the work. Dealers are best served treating the issue as inventory depth for Hawkeye and Ant-Man/Hank Pym want lists rather than as a stand-alone offering.
