Cover displays strong gloss and vibrant color with sharp, unblunted corners and no visible spine stress lines or ticks. Edges appear clean with no chipping or tears evident, and there is no writing, staining, or fading visible on the front cover. The book is housed in a protective sleeve, which limits full assessment of edge wear; interior pages and back cover were not visible and thus not assessed.

Captain America #356 is the middle chapter of "Camptown Rages!", a three-part Mark Gruenwald story with script, pencils, inks and cover by Al Milgrom. A teenage Steve Rogers, reduced in age by Sersi's spell, has infiltrated an indoctrination camp run by Mother Night and must survive until the enchantment lapses; the Sisters of Sin and the Red Skull's daughter, newly recast as Sin the issue before, supply the opposition. The issue marks the first appearance of Mother Night, the Skull's longtime operative and mesmerist previously known as Suprema, who would go on to serve in the Skeleton Crew alongside Crossbones and Machinesmith during Gruenwald's extended run. It also carries a footnote of interest to run collectors as the last issue of the series at the 75-cent cover price.

Demand for this book is driven almost entirely by the Mother Night debut and by set builders working through Gruenwald's decade-long tenure, which remains the most collected stretch of the title after the Kirby and Englehart years. Mother Night has had no screen exposure and only modest comics visibility since, so the first-appearance premium is small and has not tracked the speculative spikes seen on nearby issues such as #354 and #360. Print runs from mid-1989 were large and surviving high-grade direct copies are plentiful relative to the number of buyers, which keeps raw pricing at bin levels; certification is uncommon enough that graded copies appear only sporadically, and the resulting price signal is noisy rather than strong.

The buyer pool is Copper Age run collectors, Red Skull and Skeleton Crew completists, and registry-minded Captain America collectors chasing high grade across the whole 1968 volume. Low-grade copies are effectively reading stock and trade accordingly; mid-grade copies clear quickly but at a level where shipping is a real share of the transaction, so they move best in bulk or as part of a run. The only bracket with meaningful spread is top-census certified, where scarcity of submissions rather than underlying rarity supports the number, and where a strong-white-page census-topping example can outperform the raw market by a wide multiple. Anyone buying for the key should expect a slow, thin resale market rather than a liquid one.
