Cover shows strong gloss and sharp corners with no visible creases or color breaks. There is a small ding/notch visible at the bottom left corner near the artist signature area, and slight edge wear is visible along the top edge under the plastic sleeve. Spine appears tight with no stress lines visible. Book is in a protective sleeve which limits full assessment; interior and back cover were not examined.

// Archive commentary
Cover-dated June 1990, this installment of Avengers West Coast arrives between chapters of John Byrne's "Darker Than Scarlet" storyline and is a self-contained fill-in scripted by Danny Fingeroth with pencils by Gary Hartle and inks by Chris Ivy, behind a cover by Lee Weeks. Hawkeye, Wonder Man and Dr. Pym move against a Hydro-Man crime spree, while a disguised Loki and the time-manipulating Immortus quietly advance the schemes that would pay off two issues later in the first full appearance of the Time Keepers. There are no first appearances, origins, or deaths here, and the issue was omitted from the Darker Than Scarlet trade paperback collection, which gathered the surrounding Byrne chapters instead.
Market behavior matches that profile. The issue circulates in volume as a late-Copper Marvel title printed at healthy quantities, and raw copies in higher grades change hands routinely through dealer back-issue stock and eBay singles or bulk lots, with pricing effectively at the bottom of the back-issue scale across the whole condition range. Certified activity is minimal: census and sales-tracking coverage for this number is sparse, so slab values reflect the general floor for low-population Copper Age Marvel books rather than any demand specific to the story. What interest exists is downstream of adjacent issues, where the Scarlet Witch and Time Keepers material carries the collector attention that this chapter does not.
Buyers are run collectors completing the Avengers West Coast title, Hydro-Man and Loki completists, and Lee Weeks cover collectors, along with dealers assembling Copper Age lots. Across grades the spread is compressed almost to nothing, so condition matters little in dollar terms until a copy is certified at the top of the scale, where the premium is driven by grading cost and scarcity of submissions rather than by demand. For an archive, the practical strategy is to move raw copies as part of the surrounding Byrne run or in bulk, and to reserve certification for copies with a realistic shot at 9.8.
