Avengers Forever ran twelve issues from late 1998 into 1999, written by Kurt Busiek with Roger Stern and drawn by Carlos Pacheco over Jes u00fas Merino's inks. The fourth chapter splits the time-lost roster into three teams chasing temporal anomalies: Yellowjacket, Hawkeye and Songbird land in 1873 Arizona alongside Marvel's Western stalwarts, Captain Marvel and the Wasp drop into the 1950s, and Giant-Man and Captain America press on elsewhere in the timestream. The issue sits in the machinery of the Kang and Immortus conflict that the series was built to resolve, and it typifies the run's method of using continuity archaeology as plot rather than footnote. A separately solicited "Old West" cover exists for this number; the copy cataloged here is the standard direct edition.
