World's Finest Comics #157 arrived during the mid-1960s run of Superman/Batman team-ups that anchored the title through the Silver Age. Edmond Hamilton scripted many of these issues, and Curt Swan's pencils, a hallmark of the era's DC house style, define the issue's visual identity alongside inks typically credited to George Klein. The book fits within the broader run of World's Finest team-up stories that paired DC's two flagship heroes with rotating plots involving Robin, villains, and the occasional science-fiction premise common to the period, but #157 does not carry a first appearance, origin story, or other landmark distinction that price guides single out as a key issue.
Market data shows a modest, typical curve for a well-collected but non-key Silver Age issue: raw and lower-grade certified copies trade cheaply, values firm up gradually through the VF range, and a pronounced premium appears only at the top of the census where population is thin. The jump between 8.5 and 9.2 in the certified data reflects how scarce true high-grade Silver Age paper becomes, and the near-total absence of pricing data at 9.6 and 9.8 underscores how few copies have survived at the top of the grade scale.
This is a book bought primarily by World's Finest and Superman/Batman team-up completists, Silver Age DC runs collectors, and Curt Swan art admirers rather than key-issue speculators. Raw copies in low and mid grade move steadily but slowly through general back-issue channels at low price points, while true Gem Mint or near-Gem certified copies are rare enough that a 9.8 would likely draw active bidding among registry-set builders chasing census-topping Silver Age DC material, commanding a price disproportionate to the book's modest historical footprint.
