World's Finest Comics #126 arrived in June 1962 as part of DC's long-running anthology pairing Superman and Batman, a title that by this point had settled into its familiar format of separate lead adventures backed by supporting features rather than the single unified team-up stories the book would adopt later in the decade. The issue reflects the clean, editorially cautious storytelling of the early Silver Age DC line under Mort Weisinger and Jack Schiff, with art direction typical of the period's house style; Curt Swan's cover work, a mainstay of Superman-family titles through the 1960s, anchors the issue's visual identity. While the book carries no first appearance, origin, or landmark creative milestone that would elevate it to key status, it remains a representative artifact of DC's flagship team-up franchise at a formative stage in its history.
Market data shows a healthy certified population of 69 Universal copies against 72 total graded, with steady if unspectacular demand spread across the mid and high grade tiers; sales activity is present at nearly every grade from 4.0 through 9.4, indicating consistent collector interest in completing World's Finest runs rather than speculative single-issue demand. Pricing climbs modestly through the mid grades before accelerating past 8.0, consistent with typical Silver Age DC back-issue behavior where well-preserved copies become disproportionately scarce. The absence of recorded sales at 9.6 and 9.8, despite both grades existing on census, points to a thin top of the population pyramid that has yet to be tested in the open market.
This is a book bought primarily by Superman and Batman completists and World's Finest run-builders rather than key-issue speculators, so demand is steady rather than spiking. Lower and mid-grade raw copies trade as affordable reading and filler pieces for long-box collectors, while higher-grade certified copies appeal to registry-set builders chasing census-topping examples in an otherwise unremarkable issue. Because top-grade population is so limited, any future 9.6 or 9.8 sale would likely set a new high-water mark rather than confirm an existing trend, making the top of the grade curve more speculative than the well-documented mid-range.
