The West Coast Avengers vol. 2 #10 (cover-dated July 1986) continues Steve Englehart's run on Marvel's first Avengers spin-off ongoing, with Al Milgrom on pencils and a cover inked by Joe Sinnott. The issue turns on the search for the Thing, whose brief tenure with the California branch ends here, and it brings the Fantastic Four orbit into the book alongside the core lineup of Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Tigra, Wonder Man, and Iron Man, with Henry Pym and Firebird in support. The obscure villain Headlok makes his debut, and the Griffin also figures in the plot. Englehart's tenure on the title is remembered chiefly for its later Vision and Scarlet Witch material rather than for this stretch, which functions as connective storytelling within a well-liked but mid-tier mid-1980s Marvel run.

Market behavior reflects that status. Print runs for Marvel titles in 1986 were large, survival rates in high grade are good, and the issue circulates in dealer bulk boxes and multi-issue lots rather than as a standalone purchase. Certified copies are scarce on the census not because the book is rare but because submission costs exceed any realistic return, which means graded pricing is thinly established and driven by the cost of encapsulation more than by scarcity. The Headlok debut is noted in listings but has never drawn speculative attention, and the WandaVision-era run-up that lifted later issues of this series, notably the White Vision issues in the mid-forties, did not extend to the early numbers.

Buyers are principally run collectors completing the vol. 2 series, Englehart and Milgrom completists, and Thing or Avengers character collectors filling appearance checklists. In low and mid grades the book trades as inexpensive reading and filler stock, where shipping cost is a real component of the transaction and lot sales are the efficient route for both sides. Demand concentrates instead at the top of the grade curve, where a small pool of registry-minded collectors will pay a premium for a high-grade newsstand example largely because so few have been submitted; sellers should expect patience rather than competition at that level.
