The Fly #6 belongs to Archie Comics' mid-1980s attempt to revive its Red Circle superhero properties, bringing back Tommy Troy's insect-powered hero for a new generation of readers. The character originated in 1959 as a Simon-and-Kirby creation for the original Archie/Radio Comics line, but this 1983-84 series was a fresh continuity rather than a continuation of that earlier numbering, aimed at capitalizing on renewed interest in costumed-hero comics during the black-and-white and independent-publisher boom of the period. The Red Circle line, which also included revivals of the Shield and the Web, was a modest commercial experiment for Archie and folded after a short run, with this issue falling in the latter half of that run.

As bulk stock, the issue carries no meaningful scarcity premium; print runs for the Red Circle revival were unremarkable and back-issue demand has stayed thin outside of completists chasing the full Fly or Red Circle run. Most copies circulate at or near cover price in raw form, reflecting ordinary supply relative to the small pool of active collectors for this specific title. High-grade certified copies are uncommon simply because few people bothered to submit a low-demand 1980s Archie superhero comic for grading, not because surviving copies are especially rare.

This is a reader-and-run-filler book: appropriate for someone assembling a complete Fly or Red Circle set, or for Archie/Red Circle superhero specialists, but not a title that draws speculative or crossover interest. Raw copies in any presentable condition are readily available and inexpensive, while a graded 9.8 would appeal only to a narrow band of registry-set builders rather than the broader superhero market.
