Team America launched in 1982 as Marvel's tie-in to Ideal's short-lived Team America motorcycle toy line, following a squad of stunt-riding heroes through a run that lasted just twelve issues. Issue #2 continues the team's early adventures under the guidance of writer Bill Mantlo, with the era's house style of grounded action-adventure storytelling standing in for the flashier cosmic and mutant books dominating Marvel's line at the time. The book holds no first appearances, deaths, or creator milestones of note; it exists primarily as a curiosity of early-1980s licensed comics tied to a toy property that did not endure.

Market activity for this issue is thin across the board, reflecting a low-key, low-print-run title with a small collector base.
