Cover shows sharp corners, strong glossy surface, and vibrant unfaded colors with no visible spine stress or ticks. There is minor waviness/rippling visible in the upper cover area near the logo, and slight edge wear cannot be fully ruled out due to the protective sleeve and glare. No creases, stains, or tears are apparent. Interior pages and back cover were not assessed as this is a front-cover-only photo, and the book is currently in a plastic sleeve which may obscure minor surface defects.

Superman #52 (Feb. 1991) is part of the second ongoing Superman volume launched in 1987 following John Byrne's post-Crisis relaunch. By this point the title had settled into a stable creative rhythm under writer Roger Stern, with art handled by Kerry Gammill and Dennis Janke, and the issue falls within the multi-title "Krisis of the Krimson Kryptonite" storyline that ran across Superman, Action Comics, Adventures of Superman, and Superman: The Man of Steel in late 1990 and early 1991. The crossover explored the effects of red kryptonite on Superman's powers and personality, a plot device with roots stretching back to the Silver Age but reworked here for the character's revised continuity.
The issue carries no first appearance, death, or other landmark event, and its place in a crossover arc does not elevate it beyond the ordinary run of the series. Like most mainstream Copper Age Superman issues from this stretch, it was printed in substantial quantities and remains widely available in the back-issue market, which is reflected in its lack of a distinct market valuation from standard pricing services. Collector interest centers less on this individual chapter and more on completists assembling the full crossover or the Stern/Gammill Superman run.
This book functions as reader and completist material rather than an investment-grade key. Raw copies in typical circulated grades trade at or near cover price, and demand comes primarily from those filling gaps in a Superman vol. 2 run or the "Krisis" storyline specifically. High-grade slabbed examples see modest premiums driven by scarcity of well-preserved copies rather than any inherent character or story significance, and the book is best suited to run-builders and Superman completists rather than speculative buyers.
