This is a pre-1977 book so no direct/newsstand distinction applies. The spine shows significant wear with multiple tears and chips at the top edge, a large piece of tape or paper reinforcement visible along the left spine, and noticeable creasing. There is a distinct tear/chip in the cover near the lower-middle image area, and the corners show rounding and softness. Cover colors remain fairly bright with no major fading, but the accumulated spine damage, tape, and edge wear place this in the lower-mid grade range; interior and back cover were not assessed.

Superboy #129, cover-dated May 1966, is a standard entry in DC's long-running Boy of Steel title from the height of the Silver Age. By this point in the series, stories regularly paired Superboy's adventures in Smallville with guest appearances and tie-ins to the broader Superman mythology, including recurring supporting cast members and, in this era, occasional crossover threads with the Legion of Super-Heroes concept that had been gaining traction in the Superman family of titles. The issue does not carry a recognized first appearance, origin, or landmark creative milestone, and it is not cited in standard price guides as a cover or story key.
The book's market profile reflects that status: it is a mid-run Silver Age DC title with a healthy but unremarkable certified population, currently numbering just over fifty CGC Universal copies. Demand is driven almost entirely by Superboy and Legion completists filling out run sets rather than by speculative or key-issue buyers, which is reflected in the relatively flat pricing across the 8.0 to 9.2 range before a meaningful step up at 9.4 and above, where population thins considerably and only a small number of copies have traded.
This is a book bought by dedicated Superboy and Silver Age Superman-family collectors working toward a complete run, rather than by investors seeking a marquee key. Lower and mid-grade raw copies are inexpensive and plentiful, trading mostly as reading or run-filler copies with little grade sensitivity below very fine. High-grade certified copies, particularly anything approaching the unique 9.8 at the top of the census, command a real premium given the extreme scarcity at that level, but the ceiling remains modest compared to Superboy issues carrying genuine first appearances or historically significant covers.
