Cover shows moderate wear consistent with a mid-grade Golden Age Atlas book: spine and top-edge stress with small chips at the upper corners, light creasing across the surface, and notable scratching/scuffing in the lower-right red caption box. Corners show blunting and there is edge wear along the bottom. Colors remain reasonably bright with intact gloss in areas. Interior and back cover were not assessed.

Strange Tales #45 is a mid-1950s entry in Atlas Comics' long-running suspense and fantasy anthology, published in the immediate wake of the Comics Code Authority's arrival. By this point the title had shifted from the grislier horror of its early pre-Code issues toward the tamer twist-ending fantasy and mystery stories the Code permitted, exemplified here by 'Land of Vanishing Men!' and 'The Eyes of Mr. Moody!' The book represents the connective tissue between Atlas's horror output and the science-fiction monster anthologies that would define the line at the end of the decade, and which would eventually give rise to the Marvel superhero era in the same title.

This is a common-run anthology issue rather than a recognized key, and its market reflects that: demand is driven by scarcity in graded form rather than by any first appearance or landmark story. The certified population is tiny, with the census topping out at grade 6.0 and no high-grade copies recorded at all. What sales exist cluster in the mid-grade range and trade steadily but infrequently, a pattern typical of pre-1960 Atlas books that were read and discarded and rarely preserved. The absence of any copy above VF-minus on census gives the very top of the grade curve an outsized theoretical premium.

Buyers for this issue are Atlas anthology completists, pre-Marvel collectors assembling Strange Tales runs, and those drawn to 1950s fantasy artwork. Raw copies in low and mid grade change hands most often and represent the accessible end of the market. Genuinely high-grade certified examples effectively do not exist, so any copy grading well above the current census ceiling would be a condition rarity and would attract competitive interest from run collectors who have exhausted the usual supply. This is a solid, collectible mid-run book rather than an investment key.
