// Condition analysis
Cover shows strong gloss with a few light diagonal stress lines/creases across the upper right and mid-right area, plus a small crease near the top edge of Spider-Man's raised arm. Corners appear reasonably sharp with only minor wear, and there is a faint vertical press line visible near the spine area. No major tears, stains, or color breaks are evident, but the reflective plastic sleeve obscures fine detail in places. Interior and back cover were not assessed.

Marvel Tales #147 is a Bronze Age reprint title, part of Marvel's long-running line dedicated to recirculating classic Amazing Spider-Man stories for a newsstand audience unable to find or afford the increasingly pricey originals. This issue reprints an early Spider-Man adventure pitting the wall-crawler against the Enforcers (Fancy Dan, Montana, and Ox) and unmasking Frederick Foswell as the crime boss known as the Big Man, with a supporting cast that includes Aunt May, Betty Brant, J. Jonah Jameson, and Liz Allan. The original material carries historical weight as an early example of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's run building out Spider-Man's rogues' gallery and Daily Bugle milieu, but the reprint itself introduces no new characters or story content and holds no first-appearance status of its own.
Market activity for this issue is minimal, consistent with its status as a late-numbered reprint title with a small certified population and infrequent sales. GoCollect's data shows a modest, low-volume market even at the top of the grading scale, with high-grade copies trading in the tens of dollars rather than the hundreds, and essentially no recorded transactions in mid- or low-grade condition. Demand is driven almost entirely by Spider-Man completists assembling full runs of Marvel Tales or collectors seeking an affordable way to own the Enforcers/Big Man story without pursuing the pricier Silver Age original.
This is a book that trades as a bulk-bin or dollar-box item in low and mid grade, with value concentrated almost exclusively in top-census CGC slabs purchased by registry-set builders rather than story-driven collectors. It is not a book that commands active bidding wars or significant premiums, and most copies in circulation will move for nominal sums regardless of venue. Buyers are typically series completists rather than character-first Spider-Man collectors, who tend to gravitate toward the original Amazing Spider-Man appearances instead.
