Cover shows strong color and gloss with sharp corners and no visible creasing or spine stress; the small marvel value stamp box is intact and undamaged. There is a faint diagonal press line near the bottom left figure's leg that may be a printing artifact rather than a true crease. The book is in a protective sleeve which slightly obscures fine surface detail, and the interior and back cover were not assessed. No major wear, tears, or staining is visible on this front cover image.

Iron Man #213 falls in the stretch between the Obadiah Stane finale of issue #200 and the start of Armor Wars, a transitional period when Tony Stark was rebuilding his business life and James Rhodes remained a central presence in the book. Danny Fingeroth scripts, with pencils by Javier Saltares and inks by Kyle Baker over a cover by Bob Layton, the artist most closely identified with the character's late-Bronze and Copper Age look. The supporting cast is drawn from the O'Neil-era status quo, including Clytemnestra Erwin, with Simon Steele and Baroness Elena von Lundt continuing as antagonists. Nothing here constitutes a first appearance or origin, but the issue is a clean example of Marvel's mid-eighties house style and an early Marvel credit for Saltares, later known for Ghost Rider, alongside Baker before his move to independent cartooning.

Market behavior follows the pattern for unheralded Copper Age Marvel mid-run issues: high print runs, ample surviving supply, and essentially no speculative interest. Raw copies circulate through dealer back-issue stock and multi-issue lots rather than as individually shopped books, and grade has little effect on price until the very top of the scale, where the cost of certification rather than the content sets the floor. Certified examples appear only occasionally, submitted mostly as part of run-completion projects, so the small census reflects low submission volume rather than genuine scarcity in high grade. The newsstand designation carries no material premium for a 1986 Marvel, since newsstand distribution still accounted for a substantial share of the print run at that date; meaningful newsstand spreads begin later in the Copper and early Modern periods.

Buyers are principally run collectors filling the gap between the post-Stane reset and the Michelinie-Layton return, plus a smaller group of artist collectors tracking early Saltares and Baker credits. At the low end the book trades as reading material and rarely justifies individual shipping; in the middle grades it functions as inexpensive run filler and is best moved in bundles. Only at the census peak does it become a standalone transaction, and even then demand is intermittent, so realistic sellers should expect patience rather than competitive bidding. As archive inventory it is best positioned as a supporting piece within a complete or near-complete Volume 1 run, where the aggregate is worth more than the sum of the individual issues.
