// Condition analysis
Cover shows strong gloss and sharp corners with no visible creases or color breaks. Minor edge wear is visible along the top and right edges, and slight surface texture/print dot pattern is inherent to the cover art rather than damage. No stains, tears, or spine stress are apparent from this angle. Back cover and interior pages were not assessed.

// Archive commentary
Awesome Comics launched Fighting American in 1997 as Rob Liefeld's licensed revival of the patriotic hero Joe Simon and Jack Kirby created for Prize Comics in 1954. Liefeld and Jeph Loeb scripted, with Stephen Platt penciling and Jon Sibal inking over Liefeld layouts, and Comicraft handling lettering. The second issue continues the relaunch's roster-building, bringing in Diehard, Iron Cross, Smash, the Occult Agent and S.P.I.C.E. alongside the title character. The series is best remembered in industry terms for the litigation that surrounded it: Marvel objected to the character's proximity to Captain America, and the dispute produced a settlement that shaped how the figure could subsequently be depicted, making the Awesome run a footnote in 1990s trademark history as much as a superhero comic.
