Devil Dinosaur #7 arrived in October 1978 as part of Jack Kirby's short, self-contained nine-issue series for Marvel, a late-career solo project on which Kirby served as writer, penciler, cover artist, and editor, with Michael Royer inking and lettering and George Roussos on colors. The series introduced its title characters, the red-skinned tyrannosaur Devil Dinosaur and his diminutive companion Moon Boy, in issue #1; by #7 the book is a mid-run installment continuing their prehistoric adventures alongside supporting figures Eev and Stone-Hand rather than a first-appearance or origin issue.

Market data reflects this as a well-collected but non-key Bronze Age book: certified sales cluster heavily at the high end of the census, with 17 recorded 9.8 sales averaging around $150 over the trailing year and a steep value drop-off through 9.6, 9.4, and 9.2. Demand is driven almost entirely by Kirby's authorship and the series' cult following among Kirby completists and dinosaur/adventure-comic collectors, rather than by any first-appearance premium, and raw copies in lower grades see little documented sale activity.

This is a book that trades on completism and Kirby appeal rather than key-issue speculation: entry-level and mid-grade raw copies remain inexpensive and are typically bought to fill out a run, while the real value concentration sits at the CGC 9.8 tier, where a comparatively large population of high-grade survivors still commands a meaningful premium over anything graded lower. Collectors building a complete Devil Dinosaur set or a Kirby Bronze Age archive are the primary buyers across all grades.
