Cover shows strong gloss and bright, well-registered colors with sharp corners and no visible creases or spine ticks. The book is in a protective sleeve, which limits full assessment of the spine edge, but no color breaks or stress lines are apparent along it. Minor light reflections from the sleeve obscure fine surface detail; interior and back cover were not assessed.

Cover-dated March 1983, this installment of DC's Superman team-up title pairs the Man of Steel with Air Wave II, Hal Jordan's cousin Harold Jordan, against the Parasite in "The Parasite's Power Ploys." Bob Rozakis scripts, with pencils and cover art by Alex Saviuk, inks by Bob Smith and Pablo Marcos, color by Gene D'Angelo, lettering by Ben Oda, and editorial oversight from Julius Schwartz and E. Nelson Bridwell. The issue is of interest chiefly to continuity readers: it supplies a flashback establishing that the original 1940s Air Wave, Larry Jordan, once crossed paths with Superboy, extending the thread begun in issue 40, and it also brings the Phantom Zone-era figure Quex-Ul into the story alongside Helen, Jan, and Jason Jordan.

Market-wise this is a mid-run Bronze Age book from a title whose value is concentrated in a handful of issues, above all the He-Man debut in number 47. Public sales data for this particular number is sparse: certified copies exist and appear in dealer inventory and auction archives, but recorded results are infrequent enough that raw pricing is set by dealer stock levels rather than by auction competition. Demand comes from Superman completists filling the run, Air Wave and Green Lantern-family specialists, and Parasite collectors, none of which generates the volume that produces a firm price curve. Newsstand distribution was the norm for the period, so the newsstand designation carries no premium here, unlike the Mark Jeweler insert variants from the same run.

Collecting behavior follows the pattern for common Bronze DC: low- and mid-grade copies move in bulk and in run lots, priced barely above handling cost, and are bought to read or to complete a set rather than as investments. Value only concentrates at the top of the grade scale, where a small certified census and thin supply of high-grade newsstand copies can support four-figure-free but respectable prices for a book with no first appearance. Buyers stepping up to certified material should weigh grading and shipping costs against the ceiling, since the spread between a sharp raw near-mint copy and a slabbed 9.8 is where nearly all of this issue's value sits.
