Cover shows strong gloss and sharp corners with no visible creasing or spine stress lines; the spider-head direct edition logo box in lower right is clean and intact. Minor edge wear is possible but not clearly visible at this resolution, and the book is protected in a plastic sleeve which limits assessment of surface sheen. Avengers Spotlight #28 (cover-dated January 1990) continues the Hawkeye-anchored format the title inherited when Solo Avengers was renamed at issue #21. The lead story, "Denver Doubles," is scripted by Howard Mackie with pencils by Al Milgrom and inks by Don Heck, who also share the cover credit; Hawkeye and Mockingbird are framed by Angar the Screamer and Screaming Mimi, the latter better known to later readers under her Songbird identity in Thunderbolts. The backup, "Second Thoughts" by Dwayne McDuffie and Dwayne Turner, pairs Wonder Man and the Wasp and functions as a chapter of the line-wide Acts of Vengeance crossover, which is the issue's principal claim on collector attention. No first appearances of consequence occur here, and Mark Gruenwald's editorial hand keeps the book firmly within routine West Coast Avengers continuity.

Market profile is that of a late-Copper-Age Marvel mid-run book: printed in quantity, widely available in high grade, and traded mostly in runs rather than as singles. Demand comes from three narrow directions, Hawkeye completists, Acts of Vengeance crossover collectors assembling the full tie-in checklist, and Songbird followers picking up early Screaming Mimi appearances. None of those constituencies bids aggressively at this issue, and the certified population is thin because grading fees exceed the book's realistic ceiling. The direct-market edition described here is the common printing; newsstand copies of this period are scarcer in practice but do not yet command a documented premium at this title's level.

Buyers are typically run builders and readers, with dealers moving copies as fill for Avengers West Coast and Acts of Vengeance sets. Across grades the spread is compressed: low-grade and mid-grade copies both trade in bulk territory, and only a top-census slab separates itself, driven by scarcity of certified examples rather than by underlying demand. The sensible acquisition strategy is a clean unpressed high-grade raw copy bought as part of a run; speculative upside would depend on renewed screen attention to Mockingbird or Songbird rather than on anything intrinsic to the issue.
