Cover shows strong gloss and sharp corners with no visible creases or color breaks; spine appears tight with no stress lines visible in this photo. There is minor glare from the protective sleeve obscuring some surface detail, and a small edge of the interior page peeks out at bottom right, suggesting the book is bagged/boarded. No stains, tears, or writing are visible on the cover. Interior pages and back cover were not assessed.

Avengers #269 (July 1986) is the concluding chapter of Roger Stern's celebrated Kang trilogy, which introduced the concept of the Council of Kangs — multiple divergent incarnations of the time-traveling conqueror converging from across the Marvel timestream. Stern's run on Avengers, paired with John Buscema's pencils and Tom Palmer's inks, is well regarded among Bronze-to-Copper Age Marvel fans for its careful continuity work and its expansion of Kang's mythology, a foundation later storylines would continue to draw on. The issue features the period Avengers roster of Captain America, Iron Man, Black Knight, She-Hulk, and Captain Marvel (Monica Rambeau) contending with the fallout of the Kang conflict.
Market activity reflects a common, high-print-run newsstand issue from the mid-1980s rather than a recognized key. Certified sales are sparse at every grade, and pricing climbs only gradually through the mid grades before spiking sharply at the top of the census, a pattern typical of Copper Age Marvel back issues where mid-grade raw copies are plentiful and cheap while pristine 9.8 slabs become disproportionately scarce and desirable. There is no landmark first appearance, death, or particularly celebrated cover driving demand; interest is tied instead to completism among Avengers and Kang-storyline collectors.
This is a book bought largely by run-builders and Roger Stern/Kang-arc completists rather than speculators chasing a key. Raw copies in low and mid grade trade for pocket change and are readily available, while the jump to a Universal 9.8 commands a real premium reflecting the difficulty of finding a Copper Age newsstand issue in true gem condition. Expect steady, unspectacular demand at the low end and periodic, thinly traded but strong results whenever a top-census slab surfaces.
