Action Comics #387 arrived in April 1970, a routine entry in DC's long-running flagship Superman anthology during a transitional period for the Man of Steel line as the Bronze Age settled in. The issue reflects the house style of the era, with Curt Swan's polished pencils anchoring the Superman feature that had carried Action Comics since the Golden Age. No first appearance, origin story, or landmark creative milestone is associated with this particular issue, and it is not cited as a key by major price guides or collector consensus.
Market data for the book is thin, consistent with its status as a well-collected but non-key mid-run issue. The only populated FMV points sit at the 3.5 and 4.0 grades, both modest two-figure sums reflecting a book bought primarily by Superman completists and Action Comics run-builders rather than speculative investors. Census population is present but sparse across the high grades, and the total absence of recorded sales or FMV figures at 9.2 and above indicates a book that rarely surfaces in top condition and rarely commands market attention when it does.
This is a book for series completists assembling a full run of Action Comics rather than a standalone investment target. Lower grades trade cheaply and steadily as reading or run-filling copies, while mid-grade raw copies command a modest but real premium reflecting genuine if limited demand. High-grade certified copies are scarce enough on the census that a strong sale, when one eventually occurs, would likely set the benchmark rather than confirm an established price point, making any 9.8 valuation inherently speculative until real comparables emerge.
