// Archive commentary
Action Comics #355 arrived in October 1967, a period when the Superman family of titles under editor Mort Weisinger was deep into formulaic but reliably entertaining done-in-one adventures. The issue reflects the era's house style: clean, classical Curt Swan pencils, tight plotting typical of Weisinger-era scripters, and the Man of Steel navigating another self-contained crisis without the continuity-heavy storytelling that would come to define later decades. It is not tied to any major first appearance, origin story, or landmark creative milestone, and its cover, while representative of the period's bright graphic sensibility, has not entered the pantheon of widely cited classic Silver Age covers.
