Cover-dated June 1993 and set immediately before Infinity Crusade #1, this issue places Doctor Strange in the opening movement of the third of Jim Starlin's Infinity trilogy. With every other cosmic power already making demands of him, Strange petitions Eternity for insight into the Goddess and her promise of universal peace, defeats Eternity's champion, and has the hard-won knowledge stripped from him again. Roy Thomas and Geof Isherwood scripted the run at this point, with Isherwood supplying the cover and finishes over breakdowns by Frank Lopez, a colorist by trade, giving the interior a look that differs noticeably from the surrounding issues. Agamotto, Hoggoth, the Ancient One, Cernunnos, and Eris round out a cast drawn from the title's long-running mystical bench.

Market behavior here is that of a mid-run Modern Age crossover tie-in from a heavily printed year. Copies are abundant in high grade because 1993 books were bought and stored as speculation, and demand is driven almost entirely by Infinity Crusade completists and Doctor Strange run collectors rather than by any first appearance or origin content. Certified activity is negligible; the census is thin not because the book is scarce but because grading costs exceed the return. The newsstand designation is the one variable with upside, since newsstand distribution collapsed through the early 1990s and survival rates in top grade run well below direct-market copies, a spread that has begun to matter in the pricing of other 1992-1994 Marvel titles.

Buyers fall into two groups. The first assembles the complete Infinity Crusade crossover checklist, which runs to dozens of tie-ins, and buys raw at bin prices in any presentable grade; for that audience, condition barely moves the needle and the book trades as inventory. The second is the small cohort chasing high-grade newsstand Marvel from the speculation era, which is where the only meaningful price separation occurs, and where a certified 9.8 carries a multiple over raw that reflects certification cost and scarcity of clean newsstand copies rather than character demand. Between those poles, mid-grade raw copies have essentially no independent market and should be priced as reading stock.
