This 1965 pre-direct/newsstand-split issue shows extensive surface wear consistent with a mid-grade Silver Age copy: multiple vertical creases and stress lines running through the cover, notably across the Dr. Strange banner and the Human Torch/Thing text panels, with some color-breaking cracks. The spine shows heavy stress with visible white ticks and possible small splits along the fold. Corners show blunting and minor wear, and there is general surface rubbing/soiling especially near the left edge and spine area. The book is housed in a protective sleeve; interior pages and back cover were not visible/assessed for additional defects.

Strange Tales #130 arrived during the title's mid-1960s dual-feature era, pairing a Jack Kirby-drawn Human Torch and Thing team-up with a Doctor Strange backup illustrated by Steve Ditko, both scripted by Stan Lee. The issue sits within the run that built toward Ditko's increasingly surreal, dimension-hopping Strange stories, work now recognized as some of the most inventive mainstream art of the decade. While it carries no first appearance or origin of lasting significance, it represents the creative high point of Marvel's anthology-format Silver Age output, with two top-tier artists working in the same physical comic.

Demand for the issue tracks steadily rather than spiking, consistent with a well-collected but non-key Silver Age Marvel title. Certified population is substantial, with 373 Universal copies recorded across a wide grade spread, and pricing rises sharply only at the very top of the curve — the jump from the mid-9 grades to 9.6 shows the familiar Silver Age pattern of scarcity-driven premiums concentrated in a handful of top census copies. Recent sales activity clusters in the 6.0-8.0 range at modest values, with the real price action reserved for the small number of surviving near-mint examples.

The book suits collectors building complete Doctor Strange or Human Torch/Thing runs, as well as Ditko and Kirby art collectors assembling representative Silver Age Marvel material without chasing a marquee key. Lower and mid-grade raw copies remain accessible and trade in the double digits, making the issue an approachable entry point for readers rather than a speculative vehicle. High-grade certified copies, by contrast, are scarce enough that a true Gem Mint or even a hypothetical 9.8 would draw significant competitive bidding given the near-total absence of such copies on the census.
