Harbinger: Acts of God #1 is a 48-page one-shot published by Acclaim Comics in January 1998, written by James Perham and Jeof Vita with art by Paco Diaz, Will Blyberg, Jose Marzan Jr. and Charles Yoakum, wrapped in a Diaz/Blyberg cover. It served as a ground-up reboot of the Harbinger concept Acclaim had acquired with the Valiant catalog, reintroducing familiar names u2014 Peter Stanchek, Faith Herbert, and the Morrell siblings u2014 as a fresh set of super-powered teenagers hunted by the government agency Inquest, with the reworked characters intended to be more adaptable to Acclaim's video-game business. It arrived near the end of the Acclaim publishing program and functioned more as a relaunch attempt than a lasting new direction.

The book is a common late-1990s title from a defunct publisher, and its market reflects that: supply is plentiful, standing demand is thin, and it trades primarily as a filler or completist purchase rather than a sought key. It is frequently confused with the 1992 Valiant Harbinger #1, a recognized key carrying strong high-grade prices, but this reboot one-shot shares none of that scarcity or first-appearance pedigree. The only meaningful premium attaches to certified high-grade census copies, where slabbing costs rather than collector competition set the floor.

Buyers are chiefly Valiant/Acclaim completists assembling the full late-run line, plus the occasional Faith Herbert or Harbinger character collector. Raw copies move for pocket change across low and mid grades, with condition sensitivity essentially flat because the book is not scarce in any tier; the only bracket showing separation is a graded near-mint slab, and even there the audience is small. It is a sensible catalog inclusion for a run or thematic lot rather than a standalone offering.
