Cover shows strong gloss and sharp corners with no visible creases or color breaks. There is minor spine stress with a couple of faint ticks near the top, and slight surface handling wear at the top edge. Steve Englehart's West Coast Avengers reached its thirty-third issue in mid-1988 with "The Man in the Ant Hill," the opening chapter of a three-part sequence that sends Hank Pym back through his own past. Al Milgrom pencils and, with Mike Machlan on inks, supplies the cover; Paul Becton colors, Bill Oakley letters, and the book carries Mark Gruenwald and Tom DeFalco in the editorial credits. The story trades on deep continuity, reviving obscure early-1960s Ant-Man antagonists including the Scarlet Beetle, Comrade X, El Toro, and Pilai, and bringing Maria Trovaya Pym back into the narrative frame. The active roster on hand includes Hawkeye, Mockingbird, and Moon Knight, the last accompanied by Khonshu, reflecting the team configuration Englehart had assembled across the preceding two years.

Commercially this is a mid-run Copper Age Marvel title from a period of high print runs and heavy newsstand distribution, and the market treats it accordingly. Supply is deep, multiple-copy dealer inventory is routine, and most transactions occur as run fills, dollar-box purchases, or within larger lots rather than as standalone sales. Certification is rare because the economics rarely justify it: submission and slabbing costs exceed what the raw book commands by a wide margin, which means the top of the market here reflects the cost of encapsulation and the scarcity of anyone bothering, not underlying collector demand. Census activity for the surrounding issues is effectively dormant.

The buyer for this issue is a run collector completing the 1985-1989 series, a Hank Pym or Ant-Man continuity reader chasing the Tales to Astonish homage arc, or a Moon Knight completist tracking his West Coast tenure. Across low and mid grades the book trades interchangeably and price separation is minimal, so condition matters less than availability and shipping economics. Only in high certified grade does the book detach from the run-fill market, and there it behaves as a registry or personal-set item rather than an investment vehicle. Dealers should expect this to move fastest bundled with the adjacent issues of the arc.
