Avengers Spotlight #29 carries a February 1990 cover date and falls inside the stretch where Solo Avengers, retitled from issue #21, had settled into a two-feature format: a continuing Hawkeye serial up front and a rotating Avenger in the back. The lead story keeps Clint Barton in the middle of the Power Broker and Power Tools material Howard Mackie had been building, with Madcap turning up as an antagonist, while the backup places Iron Man against the Wizard and Klaw as a tie-in to the line-wide Acts of Vengeance crossover then running through the Marvel titles. Rick Leonardi supplies the cover, and Dwayne McDuffie and Dwayne Turner handle the Iron Man half, giving the book a stronger creator roster than its position in the run suggests.

Market profile is that of a late-Copper anthology issue with no first appearance or origin that collectors chase. Dealer inventory pages for the Avengers Spotlight run price mid-grade copies as dollar-box stock, and the series moves largely through run-fill buyers and Acts of Vengeance completists rather than speculators. Print runs from 1990 were high and survival rates excellent, so raw copies in any presentable condition are abundant and the spread between a battered copy and a solid mid-grade copy is measured in cents rather than dollars. Certified examples are scarce simply because the economics rarely justify submission, and the top of the census is thin enough that a high-grade slab prices off grading cost and the modest premium seen on the better-known issues of the same run.

The realistic buyer here is someone assembling the complete Solo Avengers and Avengers Spotlight forty-issue sequence, a Hawkeye solo-feature collector, or a reader working through every Acts of Vengeance chapter. Those buyers are price-sensitive and generally satisfied by mid-grade raw copies, which is where nearly all volume in this issue changes hands. A certified high-grade copy has a narrow but real audience among registry-minded run collectors, and that is the only bracket where the book commands more than incidental money. For a dealer archive this is inventory to be sold in sets or as part of a run rather than merchandised individually.
