Superman (vol. 2) #33, cover-dated July 1989, is a chapter of the extended "Exile" storyline that followed Superman's self-imposed banishment from Earth after his execution of the Phantom Zone criminals. Scripted by Roger Stern with pencils by Kerry Gammill and inks by Dennis Janke, the issue pairs Superman with the Cleric to experiment with the Eradicator, the Kryptonian artifact introduced in Action Comics Annual #2 earlier that year. The exchange of memories between the two characters resolves much of the guilt that had driven the Exile arc and reaffirms Superman's commitment against killing, while advancing the Eradicator toward the role it would play in the Krypton Man arc and, later, in the Reign of the Supermen.

Market-wise this is a mid-run book from a period of heavy print runs and heavy speculation-era preservation. Copies are plentiful in high grade, the certified census is thin because the book has never justified submission costs, and raw examples circulate constantly in dealer boxes and multi-issue lots. Across grades the book behaves like most Copper Age filler: low- and mid-grade copies trade at or near handling cost and are almost always acquired in bulk, while the only meaningful spread appears at the certified top of the census, where price reflects grading expense and newsstand scarcity rather than issue-level demand. Any upside is tied to renewed screen or publishing attention on the Eradicator, which would lift early appearances broadly before it reached a supporting chapter like this one.
