Published in September 1992, Team Titans #1 launched Marv Wolfman's spin-off from The New Titans and served as the third chapter of the nine-part Total Chaos crossover, continuing from New Titans #90 and running on into Deathstroke, the Terminator #15. DC issued the debut in five separate editions, each carrying a Kevin Maguire cover devoted to a single member of the team and a distinct nineteen-page origin story for that character: Killowat, Mirage, Nightrider, Redwing, and Terra. The shared main feature, drawn by Maguire with inks by Will Blyberg, pits the time-displaced Team Titans against the New Titans as Lord Chaos abducts a pregnant Donna Troy, and marks the first appearance of her son, Robert Long. The Terra edition, with interior art by Phil Jimenez, retells the origin of the second Terra and is the most sought of the five.

Market behavior reflects the book's print run rather than its content. Team Titans #1 arrived at the height of the speculative multi-cover boom, and all five editions were distributed in quantity through the direct market, leaving high-grade copies abundant three decades later. Raw examples trade in bargain-bin territory across every grade band, and complete five-cover sets routinely change hands for less than the cost of a single modern variant. Certified copies barely register: the census is thin because submission fees exceed any realistic return, and public sales records for graded examples are scarce enough that the certified bracket must be inferred from comparable early-1990s DC first issues rather than from the title's own history.

Buyers here are Titans completists, Maguire cover collectors, and readers assembling the Total Chaos crossover in full. Because the crossover chapter is identical in all five editions, most demand is cover-driven, and the Terra edition consistently outpaces the other four. Low- and mid-grade copies function as reading and set-filler material with negligible spread between brackets, while near-mint raw copies are common enough that grade premiums only begin to matter at the top of the scale. Certification makes economic sense only for registry-minded Titans collectors or for a Terra cover pulled from a pack-fresh stack; for dealer purposes the book is best moved as a complete five-cover set, where presentation adds more value than any individual copy commands alone.
