Cover shows sharp, well-defined corners and clean edges with no visible chipping or tears. Spine appears tight with no visible stress lines or color breaking in this photo, though slight glare from the protective sleeve obscures some fine detail. Darkhold: Pages from the Book of Sins launched out of the 1992 "Rise of the Midnight Sons" crossover, the line-wide push that reorganized Marvel's horror properties around Ghost Rider, Morbius, the Nightstalkers and Spirits of Vengeance. Issue two, cover-dated November 1992, is written by Chris Cooper with art by Richard Case, and follows the newly assembled Darkhold Redeemers — Victoria Montesi, Interpol agent Sam Buchanan and occult scholar Louise Hastings — as they track loose pages of Chthon's grimoire, with Modred and the Darkhold Dwarf carrying the series' running menace. The premise proved unusually durable in continuity terms: the Darkhold itself later became one of Marvel's most-adapted magical artifacts, and Montesi is cited as an early openly lesbian lead in a Marvel title. None of that makes this particular issue a first appearance, however; the character debuts and origin material all sit in the previous number.

Market behavior here is that of a well-known but non-key early-1990s Marvel title. Print runs were large, the series ran sixteen issues plus specials, and copies remain plentiful in high grade because the book was bought new by direct-market collectors and stored, not read to pieces. Consequently the raw market shows very little grade sensitivity: rough copies and clean mid-grade copies clear at nearly the same figure, and most movement happens in short runs of #1-6 rather than as single issues. Certified activity is limited, and the census is thin enough that certified pricing is driven less by scarcity than by whether a Midnight Sons collector happens to be building the set at that moment. The 2022 wave of interest in the Darkhold as a screen artifact lifted #1 measurably and left the rest of the run largely where it was.

Buyers for this issue fall into two groups: run collectors completing the sixteen-issue series or the broader Midnight Sons line, and reader-collectors picking up the 1990s Marvel horror material after encountering the Darkhold elsewhere. Neither group pays a premium for condition at the low end, so raw copies are best moved in bundles or as part of a Midnight Sons group lot. Top-census copies are the only place meaningful upside exists, and even there the market is shallow and slow, rewarding patience over aggressive pricing. For dealer purposes this is inventory that supports a key issue rather than one that carries a consignment on its own.
