Darkhawk #15, cover-dated May 1992, closes the six-part "Heart of the Hawk" storyline that carried Danny Fingeroth's series through its first year. Fingeroth scripts, with pencils and cover by Mike Manley and inks by Ricardo Villagran. Chris Powell recovers the amulet from Tombstone, rescues his mother, and reads further into his father's diary, learning that the Savage Steel armor passed among members of the Cabal — the family-secret thread that gave the title its distinctive tone among Marvel's early-nineties launches. Darkhawk was one of the more durable characters created in the 1991 wave, later folded into the Avengers and cosmic corners of the Marvel line, and this issue functions as the payoff to the arc that established his supporting cast rather than as a debut of any kind.

Market behavior is that of a high-print-run direct-edition Marvel book from the peak distribution years. Copies are plentiful, dealer inventory is deep, and raw grade has little effect on price until the top of the scale, where the premium is driven almost entirely by slabbing cost rather than scarcity. Interest in the series concentrates on the first issue and, secondarily, on the Venom and Spider-Man crossover issues; #15 draws demand mainly from run collectors and from Tombstone completists. The 2021 speculative run on Darkhawk material, tied to renewed attention on the character, lifted graded prices across the series and has since receded, leaving mid-run slabs trading at a fraction of their highs.

Buyers are set collectors filling a 1991-1995 run, Manley followers, and registry builders who want the whole series in matched high grade. Below the very top of the scale this trades as inventory: sold in lots, priced by the box, and rarely worth individual shipping. At the 9.8 level the calculus changes, since few copies have been submitted and a completist willing to pay for the slot faces limited supply. Sellers holding raw copies should expect the strongest returns from bundling the arc — issues #10 through #15 together — rather than pricing this number on its own.
