// Condition analysis
This 1966 Silver Age book predates the direct/newsstand distinction. Notable defects include multiple vertical creases through the cover (one prominent crease running through the logo and another through the lower right), significant spine wear with stress lines, edge and corner wear especially at the top and bottom right corner, and general surface aging/toning consistent with a book of this age. A prior dealer grading tag on the cover reads 'Poor 3.00' suggesting an earlier assessment near this range. Interior and back cover were not assessed from this photo.

Fantastic Four #47, cover-dated February 1966, arrives at the midpoint of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's celebrated Inhumans arc that runs through issues #45-48. Titled "Beware the Hidden Land!", the issue finds Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Girl, the Human Torch, and the Thing pressing deeper into the Great Refuge to free Black Bolt and the Inhuman Royal Family from the machinations of the power-mad Maximus. Joe Sinnott's inks over Kirby's pencils give the book some of the most polished art of the FF's mid-1960s run, a period widely regarded as the creative high point of the series and of the era's superhero output generally.
Market data shows a book with broad collector participation across all grades but a pronounced premium at the very top of the census. Mid-grade copies trade in a narrow, stable band in the $28-$85 range through grades 2.0 to 6.0, reflecting steady demand from readers assembling the Inhumans storyline rather than speculative buying. That changes sharply above 9.0, where scarcity on census (just 7 copies graded 9.8 against 91 at 9.0) combines with sustained buyer interest in high-grade Kirby cover art to push values up an order of magnitude between 9.4 and 9.8, a curve typical of key-adjacent Silver Age Marvel but notably steep here given the issue is not itself a first appearance.
This is a book for two overlapping audiences: Fantastic Four run collectors filling out the Inhumans saga, who will transact comfortably in the low-to-mid grade tiers, and Silver Age Kirby specialists chasing pedigree-quality copies for the visual strength of the art and cover. Because #47 lacks a headline first appearance, it will always trade at a discount to its bracket-mates #45 and #48, but its role as connective tissue in one of Lee and Kirby's most acclaimed multi-issue stories keeps demand consistent rather than speculative, with the CGC 9.8 tier commanding grail-level prices purely on eye appeal and rarity.
