The cover shows good gloss and bright color with no major creases, but there is a small edge nick/soft corner at the upper left tip and light rubbing along the spine that has caused faint stress lines rather than distinct ticks. The bottom left corner shows a hint of blunting, and slight surface wear is visible near the bagged plastic sleeve reflections. No tears, stains, or color breaks are apparent, but the book is in a protective sleeve which limits full assessment; interior and back cover were not evaluated.

Marvel Tales #101, cover-dated March 1979, is part of Marvel's long-running black-and-white-cover reprint line that recycled classic Amazing Spider-Man stories for a new generation of newsstand readers. This issue reprints Amazing Spider-Man #101 (1971), the story that introduced Morbius the Living Vampire, one of the more enduring horror-tinged additions to Spider-Man's rogues gallery, created by writer Roy Thomas and penciler Gil Kane during the period when the Comics Code's restrictions on vampires were being tested and eventually loosened.
As a reprint, the book does not carry first-appearance status itself and trades at a steep discount to the original Amazing Spider-Man #101, but it retains collector interest as an affordable way to own the Morbius origin story in a Bronze Age package. The CGC population is modest, with only a handful of certified copies spread across the grading scale and very few recorded sales, most concentrated in the higher grades. Demand is driven primarily by Spider-Man and Morbius completists building thematic runs rather than by investment-grade key-issue speculation.
The book functions as an entry-level or filler piece in most collections: raw copies in low and mid grades are inexpensive and readily available, while high-grade CGC 9.8 examples command a real premium due to genuine scarcity at the top of the census rather than any first-appearance premium. Buyers are typically Spider-Man or Morbius character collectors rounding out reprint runs, and the book is unlikely to see significant price movement outside of broader market swings in Bronze Age reprint material.
