Cover shows strong gloss and vibrant color with sharp corners; a small vertical crease line is visible near the top center of the cover and minor surface scuffing/scratches appear across the spider-web art. Spine appears mostly tight with no obvious major stress lines visible in this view, though slight wear is possible at the extreme top edge. The book is in a protective sleeve which may mask minor edge wear. Interior and back cover were not assessed.

Marvel Tales was Marvel's long-running reprint vehicle, recycling early Amazing Spider-Man adventures for a new generation of readers at a discount price point. Issue #72, cover-dated October 1976, falls within the title's steady monthly march through the Stan Lee and Steve Ditko/John Romita Sr. Spider-Man run, offering affordable access to Silver Age storytelling without carrying any first-appearance or origin significance of its own. As with most issues in this series, the appeal lies entirely in the underlying Spider-Man content rather than in any new material created for this printing.
Market activity for this issue is thin and undifferentiated: certified sales cluster at a flat thirty-dollar level across a wide span of grades from near-mint to gem-flat nine-point-six, with no meaningful separation by condition and no certified nine-point-eight on record. This pattern is typical of reprint-title back issues, which see collector interest driven mainly by completeness of a Marvel Tales run or by budget-minded Spider-Man readers rather than by speculative grade-chasing. Demand is steady but modest, with no signs of a breakout collector base pushing prices upward.
This is a book for series completists and casual Spider-Man readers rather than key-issue investors. Raw copies in low and mid grades trade cheaply and are readily available in dollar bins and online lots, while certified high-grade copies see only occasional transactions given the small census. Any hypothetical top-of-census slab would likely command a rarity premium over the current top sales, but absent an established buyer pool chasing gem copies, this remains a stable, low-value reprint title best suited to bulk Spider-Man Bronze Age collections.
