Anima #0 is one of the many zero-numbered origin issues DC published in October 1994 as part of its line-wide "Zero Hour" event, using the gap in continuity to introduce or re-introduce characters with a clean jumping-on point. This issue introduces Courtney Mason, known as Anima, a teenage hero connected to a mystical totemic legacy, written by John Ostrander with art credited to Marc Campos. The character had a brief run in her own ongoing series and later surfaced in team books such as the Blood Pack and Young Justice-adjacent stories, but she never became a marquee DC property.

As a Zero Month tie-in for a lower-tier character, Anima #0 was printed in substantial numbers and saw little collector pressure beyond completists of the event or of Ostrander's bibliography.
