The cover shows moderate wear consistent with a mid-grade Silver Age book: visible spine stress with a couple of small ticks, a diagonal crease/scuff running through the lower right corner area, and edge wear along the right and bottom borders with light chipping at the corners. There is also some surface scuffing and minor color rubbing near the bright yellow field, and slight waviness to the cover stock. Interior and back cover were not assessed, which could affect the final grade.

The Shadow #3 comes from Archie's brief 1964 attempt to revive the classic pulp and radio hero for the Silver Age superhero boom, recasting Lamont Cranston's mysterious avenger as a caped crime-fighter in a green-and-blue costume. The lead story, "Shiwan Khan's House of Horrors," pits the reimagined Shadow against his signature pulp nemesis, with supporting players Margo Lane and Shrevy carried over from the radio tradition, plus a one-page filler feature tying the book to Archie's wider Mighty/Radio Comics superhero line. Jerry Siegel scripted the series and Paul Reinman supplied the artwork, giving the run a modest historical footnote as a Silver Age genre experiment by the co-creator of Superman.

The series is best known among collectors for its divisive superhero redesign, which departs sharply from the character's noir roots and has kept it a niche rather than mainstream draw. Demand concentrates on issue #1 as the run's key; middle issues like #3 see limited, steady interest and trade primarily as raw copies in the single-digit to mid-teen range, with occasional attention from Shiwan Khan and pulp-crossover completists. High-grade certified examples are genuinely scarce because the book was neither widely saved nor heavily submitted, which supports a meaningful premium at the top of the grade scale despite the title's soft overall demand.

Buyers are chiefly Silver Age Archie/Mighty Comics collectors, Shadow character specialists, and set builders completing the eight-issue run. The book moves easily and inexpensively in low and mid grades, where supply is adequate and pricing is guide-driven; at the certified high end the calculus flips to scarcity, and clean census-topping copies can command multiples of raw value when they surface. It is a collectible mid-run issue rather than a key, and pricing should track condition and eye appeal closely.
